Notch and Cancer
5-8 October 2008
Athens, Greece
An international conference on "Notch and Cancer" will be held in Athens, Greece, Sunday 5 through Wednesday 8 October, 2008. The conference is meant to be small and intensive and, for the first time, will bring together leading Notch researchers for a detailed, comprehensive discussion of the involvement of Notch signalling in tumorigenesis. The emphasis will be on open communication of novel unpublished data, "Gordon Conference" style, with the goal of advancing the field and catalyzing new collaborations. All participants are expected to contribute to informal, open, and in-depth discussions.
In 2007 a series of conferences that have the Notch signaling pathway as their central element was begun as it is certain that we will all benefit from a regular Notch-related meeting, irrespective of the experimental system or biological process we follow. These meetings, organized by Fondation Santé, will alternate with smaller, more focused conferences, of which the "Notch and Cancer" conference is the first one.
The Organizing Committee
Spyros Artavanis-Tsakonas, Harvard Medical School, USA
Jon Aster, Brigham and Women's Hospital-Harvard Medical School, USA
Anthony Capobianco, The Wistar Institute, USA
Hans Clevers, Hubrecht Institute, The Netherlands
Lucio Miele, Loyola University Medical Center, USA.
Provisional Program
The conference will be divided into 7 sessions covering the following:
- Mechanistic Aspects of Oncogenic Notch Activity
- The Involvement of Notch in Leukemias
- Breast Cancer, Stem Cells and Notch
- Solid Tumorigenesis
- Notch Activation and Cell Proliferation
- Notch Signalling Agonists and Antagonists as Tumor Therapeutics
- Notch Related Markers in Tumors
