Notch and Cancer
5-8 October 2008
Athens, Greece

An international conference on "Notch and Cancer" was held in Athens, Greece, Sunday 5 through Wednesday 8 October, 2008. As intended the conference was small and intensive and, for the first time, brought together leading Notch researchers for a detailed, comprehensive discussion of the involvement of Notch signalling in tumorigenesis. The emphasis was on open communication of novel unpublished data, "Gordon Conference" style, with the goal of advancing the field and catalyzing new collaborations. All participants contributed to informal, open, and in-depth discussions.

2007 saw the beginning of a series of conferences that have the Notch signaling pathway as their central element. These meetings, organized by Fondation Santé, will alternate with smaller, more focused conferences, of which the "Notch and Cancer" conference was the first.
